K-2 - Sea Life Safari: (Mon & Wed)
Join us as we go on an Aquarium safari, in search of fish, sharks and whales. On their aquatic expedition, students will explore the basic needs of all animals and observe how these needs are met at the Aquarium.

K-2- Bite Size Basics: (Tue & Thu)
All animals have certain basic needs, including food. Come discover what some of our Aquarium residents eat, how they eat and how their food is prepared.

3-5 -Weird and Wild:  (Mon & Wed)
Come along on a “weird & wild” adventure through the Georgia Aquarium! During this program students will explore the “weird & wild” characteristics of our unique animals.

Grades 3 – 5 Snack Attack:   (Tue & Thu)
Come explore some of the predator-prey relationships found in aquatic ecosystems around the globe. Discover how some of our amazing animals catch their meals and how they keep from becoming prey themselves.      

Time: Classes begin at 11:45.  Home School participants may enter no earlier than 11:00 am the day of their program to tour the Aquarium.
Cost: $13 plus tax which includes admission to the Deepo’s 3D Wondershow movie.

All Ages: Myths, Magic, and Mummified Fish

Homeschool students and parents are invited to attend Myths, Magic, and Mummified Fish. Tour the Egyptian galleries with Museum docents, exploring mummies and coffins from several periods of Egyptian history, animal mummies, the tools and objects used in the mummification process, and images of the mummiform god of the Underworld, Osiris. View a video on the year-long process of conserving the Old Kingdom mummy, the oldest Egyptian mummy in North America, as well as Reading Rainbow’s Mummies Made in Egypt.  Students will watch a demonstration and take home instructions on how to mummify a fish, just as the Egyptians did!

8-12 Years:  Mental Mapping Workshop for Children
 Mental mapping is a technique of creating a map based on a place known well to an individual that may include physical features, but also subjective experiences of that place.  In this two-part workshop, Michael Page, cartographer with Emory’s Center for Digital Scholarship, will lead children through the streets, buildings, and gardens of Rome in the exhibition Antichità, Teatro, Magnificenza: Renaissance and Baroque Images of Rome and teach them how to begin with a familiar place—their own neighborhood—to create a map first envisioned mentally and then drawn on paper. In the second session, children will learn how to etch their drawn map onto a metal plate and pull a print using a manual etching press.
